This case study examines the clinical application of FineMotion™, a pulse-modulated long-pulse 808 nm diode laser approach developed to address the long-standing challenges associated with fine, miniaturized, and vellus hair reduction. These hair types present inherent treatment limitations, including low chromophore contrast, superficial follicle location, and reduced responsiveness to conventional short-pulse protocols, often resulting in inconsistent outcomes.
Conducted under routine clinical conditions by FormaTK, the study evaluates FineMotion™ as a refined treatment approach for fine and vellus hair indications. Rather than relying on increased fluence or peak power, the protocol emphasizes controlled, pulse-modulated energy delivery designed to improve heat retention at the follicular level while maintaining epidermal safety and procedural comfort.
Beyond visible hair reduction, the study highlights a consistent treatment-phase transition typically emerging between the fourth and sixth diode sessions, where conventional hair-reduction strategies become less effective as hair characteristics change. This observation supports a shift in clinical approach to fine hair reduction, emphasizing the need for protocol adaptation rather than continued use of terminal-hair–optimized settings.
This treatment-phase insight is later reinforced by the AlphaLine project, a real-world, post-market clinical data initiative supported by Keros – FormaTK’s French distributor – providing broader context for approach-driven protocol evolution.
Overall, this case study supports FineMotion™ as a clinically grounded, predictable solution for fine and vellus hair reduction, demonstrating how adapting treatment strategy over time can improve consistency, safety, and long-term clinical usability in everyday practice.
