Inflammatory acne vulgaris is a chronic, relapsing skin disorder driven by follicular inflammation, Cutibacterium acnes activity, and sebaceous gland dysfunction. Durable management often requires more than antibiotics or systemic drug courses, it calls for an approach that targets bacterial load, inflammation, and skin quality together, while limiting systemic exposure and treatment burden.

This case study, led by dermatologist Dr. Bartłomiej Sobolewski at Sobolewscy Clinic in Wrocław, Poland, evaluates a real-world monotherapy protocol using the Alpha System’s 3D IPL S-430 applicator at 430 nm, with individualized parameters guided by digital melanin assessment and outcomes tracked through Quantificare® 3D quantitative imaging alongside standardized clinical photography.

Across six weekly sessions, four patients with mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne showed marked reductions in inflammatory lesion counts and facial erythema, with objective imaging confirming fewer inflammatory hotspots and reduced erythematous surface area. Improvement was achieved without systemic medication, laboratory monitoring, or treatment-related adverse events, and with no disruption to patients’ daily routines.

Conducted in everyday clinical practice, these findings support the Alpha System’s 430 nm IPL platform as a rapid, well-tolerated, and reproducible option for inflammatory acne management, one that may warrant broader consideration as an early-line strategy rather than a last-resort alternative to conventional therapy.
